Hi.

Welcome. I’ve chosen to share my experiences with depression and my perspective on life in hopes that they will be of benefit to someone. Possibly you.

Feel free to share your thoughts, comments and perspectives, all of them free from judgement. It’s only as a group that we can help lift each other up, build confidence and work to end the stigma that surrounds mental illness.

It’s human nature to make judgments based on first impressions, but can we always trust the information we’re first given? Simple answer: no, not always.

The short film, The Interviewer, from Bus Stop Films has a big message. James, Gerard O’dwyer, shows that there’s so much we can miss unless we invest the time and go beyond first impressions.

What was the first thought that came to your mind? Have you ever experienced this? I do all the time. I’m quiet and prefer not to be around bigger groups, but once someone gets to know me…

Being in Human Resources, I just went through this with a group at work who felt like one of their co-workers was unapproachable. The longer I sat and spoke with him, the more his personality came alive. The person who was “unapproachable” is warm, genuine, thoughtful and is eager to learn and improve. This is not to say that every time will turn out this way, but you don’t know until you give someone or something a second, deeper look.
