Hi.

Welcome. I’ve chosen to share my experiences with depression and my perspective on life in hopes that they will be of benefit to someone. Possibly you.

Feel free to share your thoughts, comments and perspectives, all of them free from judgement. It’s only as a group that we can help lift each other up, build confidence and work to end the stigma that surrounds mental illness.

It's all Perspective

It's all Perspective

I’ve seen this image floating around the internet for awhile, primarily on Facebook, I think. When I read it, I liked the concept and challenged myself to find a silverlining of some things that do not excite me or drive me crazy.

  • Vet bills that DRAIN my bank account = furry family members to love

  • My parents always asking me how to do something with their phones or computer = they are still alive for me to hug and are healthy

  • Getting up early for work (I am not an early riser by nature) = having a job to go to

  • Sore muscles after a work out = the ability to stay healthy

  • Stuck in traffic = having quiet time to myself

  • People who make me constantly think, “WTF!?!” = the opportunity to practice my patience and see things from another perspective (sometimes the most challenging)

I’ve often refereed to difficult times as a “character building opportunity”. When I say this to people, I usually get a strange look or a chuckle. At this point in my life, I think I have plenty of character and would be just fine not building anymore. However, I know that will never be the case, besides, it keeps me on my toes and constantly challenges my thought process. Now I challenge you to find a silverlining in something that makes you grumble every time and share it with me in the comments below.
